NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 No national prescriptions will apply.
1.3 Rule 42 and Rule 67 shall apply. 
1.4 Appendix P, Special Procedures for Rule 42 will apply.
1.5 If there is a conflict between this Notice of Race, the Championship Rules and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing instructions will take precedence. 
1.6 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.

2. ADVERTISING
2.1 International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Regulation 20 Advertising Code shall apply.
2.2 Boards may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3. ELIGIBILITY and ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to all competitors in the following divisions and in accordance with the Kona Class Rules:

Light weight
Medium light weight
Medium weight
Heavy weight
Ladies division
Cadet division

3.2 Eligible competitors may enter by filling in the on-line entry form at
www.konaone.com/worlds2013.

4. CHARTER BOARDS/RIGS
4.1 A number of limited pieces of boards/rigs are available for charter but early bookings are recommended.  The charter fee is 175$ US (100$ US for boards and 100$ US for rigs CAD). The charter fee will increase to 250$ after May 20, 2013.

4.2 Subsequent to the regatta, the charter boards/rigs may be purchased. For pre-orders, charter booking and spare parts please contact us sailaero@aol.com.

5. FEES
5.1 Required fee is $250 CAD per competitor. 
5.2 Required fee for competitors, born in 1994 or later is $200 CAD.
5.3 Later entries/payments may be accepted at an extra charge of 50$ after May 20th, 2013.

6. SCHEDULE
6.1 Registration:
The regatta office is located at beach area and will be open daily from 0800h.
6.2 Competitors who are not registered at least 1 hour before their start may be scored Did Not Start (DNS).

6.3 A maximum of 12 course races are scheduled to be sailed. , including the long distance race. 
6.4  The long distance race is scheduled to be sailed on Monday, July 1, 2013.

7. MEASUREMENT
7.1  Equipment shall be produced by a Licensed Manufacturer.  Equipment cannot have been subsequently altered (other than what is permitted in class rules) and shall display the official ISAF logo as applied by the manufacturer. 
7.2  Equipment inspection may take place at any time during the regatta.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1  The Sailing Instructions for the Championship serie will be available at registration.
8.2  The Sailing Instructions for the long distance race will be available at registration.

Racing will take place on Lac St-Pierre.

 

10. COURSES
10.1 The courses for the Championship series will be defined in the sailing instructions.
10.2 The course for the long distance race will be defined in the sailing instructions.

11. SCORING
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
11.1 Four races are required to be completed to constitute a championship.
11.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a board’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
 (b)  When 5 to 11 races have been completed, a board’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
  (c)  When 12 races have been completed, a board’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
LONG DISTANCE RACE
11.3  Event will be described in the relevant sailing instructions.
12.  BERTHING
12.1 Boards shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat park.

13.  PRIZES
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
13.1 Prizes will be presented to the 1st 3 place boats, in all divisions.

LONG DISTANCE RACE
13.2  Prizes will be described in the relevant sailing instructions.

13.3 Other prizes may be awarded.

14. BUOYANCY
14.1 If the personal buoyancy will be prescribed, each competitor shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kgs.
14.2 The buoyancy may be tested with a metal weight of 4kgs which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes in fresh water.

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk.  See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.

16. INSURANCE
Each participating board shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 1000 000$ per event or the equivalent.

17. MEDIA
When participating in the event, a competitor automatically grants the organizing authority and the sponsors of this regatta, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion - any motion pictures, still motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition without compensation.

Please note:  There is no sewage hook up for motorhomes at the venue.

3. FURTHER INFORMATION
3.1 We highly recommend that windsurfing shoes be worn.
3.2 The average conditions that can be expected are:  wind speeds 8 to 22 knots, water temperatures 20-25 °C and air temperatures 20-27 °C.
